Day 01: Arrive at Chennai International Airport
Arrive at Chennai international airport; upon arrival, you will be received by the representative and from there, will be transferred to your hotel. Check in at your hotel.
Formerly known as Madras, Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu, in the southern part of India. And is one of the major city to cover in Tamil Nadu travel itinerary. Chennai is one of the dynamic city which is immersed in tradition. It is one of the four metropolitan cities of India having rich cultural history.
Chennai is worth visiting for its temples, British-era museums and monuments, culinary delights and Marina Beach (Second largest urban beach in the world). Chennai is also famous for its towering skyscrapers on one hand and the charm of its older part on the other hand.
Although, you can have many good options to have dinner outside but after a long flight, we will suggest you to have dinner at hotel on this day.

Day 02: Chennai

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, proceed for an excursion of Kanchipuram (75 Kms) and Mahabalipuram (130 Kms)
Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram being very important holy sites of Hinduism becomes a major part of Tamil Nadu travel Itinerary.
Kanchipuram is one of the holy places of Hinduism which attracts thousands of people from all over the world for pilgrimage. You can find 1000 temples lined in the city, among which the Saivaite Temple and Ekambareswarar Temple are the popular ones Kanchipuram is also famous for Kanchipuram Silk and silk sarees. The handmade silk is the most famous.Also, experience a visit to local home of the weavers to see how they produce the Sarees.
After the visit, you can stop for lunch. The driver being the destination expert will suggest you many good options for local restaurant.
Mahabalipuram another famous town of Tamil Nadu. The architectures here were constructed along the Coromandel Coast by Pallava Kings between 7th and 8th century. You can visit a temple of chariot style, a huge outdoor rilievo named the “Origin of Ganges” and another shore temple. Thousands of shops are there around the street selling sculptures, go ahead and select gifts for your family or friends.

Day 03: Chennai – Pondicherry

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out and start your drive to Pondicherry, a must visit destination to be included in Tamil Nadu travel itinerary. Upon arrival, check in at hotel.
Since Pondicherry had been a French colony, the architectural style here was greatly influenced by French culture.
Lunch at the hotel/outside at a local restaurant.
Afternoon visit the Botanical Garden, Eglise De Sacre Coeur De Jesus and Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the most famous attraction in Pondicherry. It is a quiet place and the main building in it is the residence of Aurobindo. If time permits, you can visit the township of Auroville (also named the village of dawn), a utopian autonomous village established by Europeans in the 1960s.

Day 04: Pondicherry – Tanjore
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out and start your drive to Tanjore. Upon arrival, check in at hotel.

Since 9th century AD, Tanjore or Thanjavur was well-known for being the capital of Chola Empire. There are many Hindu temples around the city and the most famous one is the Shiva Temple. You can get a glimpse of various ancient structures here built by Marathas, Nayaks and Cholas.

Later, visit places like Sivagangai Garden, Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple, Mariamman Temple and Schwartz Church.

Day 05: Tanjore – Madurai via Trichy

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, check out and start your drive to Madurai enroute visiting Trichy. Upon arrival in Madurai, check in at hotel.
As you will reach Trichy, Rock Fort Temple is one of the most popular temple that you will get to see. Although, this temple is not very big but since it is located on a hillock, the scenery is beautiful and the stunning view from the top will never let you down.

As a holy land of Hinduism, Madurai is famous for its ancient temples and fancy art and structure. (Madurai derived its name from the divine nectar dripped from Shiva’s matted locks). Here, you will visit sites like Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Meenakshi Temple and MariammanTeppakulam

Day 06: Madurai – Tamil Nadu Travel Itinerary

Today, you will explore the Meenakshi Temple and then visit the Thirumalai Nayak. Being constructed in 1636, you can experience its beauty through its garden, wall and the ballroom. The old pictures displayed in Gandhi Museum in the palace tell you a real history of India. If you are interested, you may enjoy the Light and Sound Show which presents a story of Thirumalai’s life.

Day 07: Madurai – Kanyakumari
